FUMI is a brand new café on Fu Min road. It opened its doors less than a week ago and is still in soft opening. I visited during its first weekend and was very impressed with the warm service, the chic and relaxed atmosphere, and of course, the excellent coffee.
The decor is simply stunning. Sleek and modern furnishings in a bright and open space.
Reflections, reflections, reflections.
Because they are still in soft opening, only the house blend is offered at the moment. Single origin beans will be available in a few weeks. My Flat White (32) was rich, smooth, and balanced, with a slight bitterness lingering at the end.
Recommend: yes
Their lovely barista then brewed me a cup of Hand Drip (35). Since this was also made with their house blend, it was much less acidic than most single origin dripped coffees. It tasted cleaner and purer than the flat white, and I found it very easy to drink.
Recommend: definitely
Their biscotti tasted strongly of anise. Very bold, but not my cup of tea.
They have a Tasting Combo Set (55-65 depending on the bean), with an espresso, a piccolo latte, and a drip coffee, arranged in a row on a cute little wooden tray. They also offer several coffee-inspired drinks – such as Matcha Mocha and Strawberry White Chocolate Mocha – as well as an impressive cake selection.
Their Carrot Cake (35) was moist, rich, and very flavorsome. The cream cheese frosting was absolutely delicious.
Recommend: definitely
I had a lovely afternoon at FUMI. Fantastic coffee, delicious cake, lovely baristas, all in this wonderfully designed café. My new favorite hideout.
